CM directs police to make Tripura Mafia free, reviews Law and Order

Agartala: August 08. Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday directed the police to work in a move to erase the word mafia from the state.Chief Minister on Tuesday chaired a review meeting on ‘Law and Order’ with all the Tripura Police personnel at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala.

Later, Dr Saha told reporters that the meeting with Tripura Police was fruitful.“Our main aim about the meeting is to make Tripura drug-free. We have zero-tolerance against drug menace and we are also working for drug-free Tripura. On this matter, I have held a meeting with all the Tripura Police officials.  I have collected all the details from them. Starting from Officer-in Charges to senior police officials are very serious about this matter. We have zero tolerance against drugs and the people engaged with it. I have given some instruction in a new way and some technical parts were also discussed”, said Dr Saha.

He also said that Rohingya is now a major concern as they are using Tripura as corridor to go in other states. The Chief Minister further informed that discussions were also held on using Modernize technologies in every police station.  “Discussion held on cyber crime and by September Cyber Police Station is going to be inaugurated. We are also using drone technology to find out the plantation of cannabis in a move to destruction”, said Dr Saha.

The Chief Minister also directed all the OCs to be pro-people and said Tripura Police is maintaining the law and order properly. “I feel proud that policing system in our Tripura is really good”, he said.The Chief Minister has also said that government has zero tolerance against “mafia’.“Mafia word should be erasing from Tripura. No mafia can stay in Tripura. Those who are involved in various anti-social activities including extortion, syndicates should be identified and immediate action should be taken against them. Police will take action against such illegal activities with zero tolerance policy. In this case, there will be no interference in police work”, the Chief Minister added.During the program, Director General of Police, Amitabha Ranjan, ADG (Law and Order) Saurabh Tripathi, DIG Ipper Manchak, IG GK Rao, District Superintendent of Polices, Sub-divisional Police Officers, Officer-in Charges of different police stations and others were present.
