Agartala, 10th October 2026 : Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the CJP protest, dismissing the agitation as ineffective and alleging that certain powerful forces were attempting to mislead the younger generation through such demonstrations.
Reacting to the protest, the Chief Minister used strong language to question its political significance, declaring, “Nothing will come of the ‘cockroach’ protests.”
Dr. Saha expressed concern over the involvement of young people in such activities, claiming that they were being led in the wrong direction. He also suggested that the agitation was not merely a spontaneous movement, alleging the involvement of influential forces operating behind the scenes.
“What can I say about them? I feel they are leading the youth—the younger generation—astray. There are powerful forces behind this,” he said.
Appealing to young people to exercise caution, the Chief Minister urged them not to get involved in activities that, according to him, could divert them from their future responsibilities. He stressed that the youth were the country’s greatest asset and would play a crucial role in shaping India’s future.
The Chief Minister also expressed confidence in the political strength of the BJP and the NDA, asserting that such protests would not easily undermine their position or achieve the intended outcome against the ruling alliance.
“Under no circumstances can anything be achieved so easily against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or NDA government—whether at the Centre or elsewhere—through this kind of agitation,” Dr. Saha said.
His comments underscored the state government’s strong opposition to the CJP-led agitation, while his allegations regarding the forces behind the protest added a political dimension to the ongoing controversy. The Chief Minister maintained that the youth should refrain from participating in such demonstrations and focus instead on their future and the country’s development.
