Agartala, 5th August 2026 : Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha has called for a tougher and more coordinated administrative response to substance abuse and crime, directing police and district authorities to intensify surveillance, patrolling and enforcement across Tripura.
Speaking at a Task Monitoring System meeting held through video conference at the Secretariat, Saha said there could be no leniency in dealing with drugs and criminal activities. He directed authorities to identify crime-prone areas and strengthen regular police patrolling, particularly around schools and colleges. He also suggested formation of special task forces, if required, for targeted operations against drug trafficking and crime.
Expressing concern over security around GB Hospital, the Chief Minister called for round-the-clock CCTV surveillance and additional police deployment to prevent criminal activities in the area.
Saha also stressed the importance of cleanliness and proper maintenance of tourist destinations to strengthen Tripura’s tourism sector. He directed officials to ensure regular monitoring and field inspections at Chabimura, Unakoti, Dumboor and Neermahal.
He instructed District Magistrates to ensure extensive public participation in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from August 9 to 17 and programmes commemorating the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’. The main state-level programme will be held at Ujjayanta Palace on August 11.
Reviewing government services, Saha directed officials to accelerate the remaining work under the Jal Jeevan Mission, with around 85–86 per cent already completed. He also reviewed roads, electricity, drinking water, hospitals, PDS, Anganwadi centres and other public services.
The Chief Minister urged officials to adopt a people-centric approach, interact with citizens courteously and ensure greater inter-departmental coordination.
