Agartala, 13th October 2026 : Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday said the government would take up the recruitment issue concerning TET-1-qualified candidates after the pending court case is resolved, as aspirants continue to press for appointments following a protest outside the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT), at Shiksha Bhavan in Agartala on Monday.
Responding to a question at a press conference, Dr Saha said the matter was currently sub judice and the government could not comment on it until the legal proceedings were completed. He said the issue concerning TET-1 candidates would be addressed once the case reached its conclusion.
On TET-2 recruitment, the Chief Minister announced that appointment letters would be distributed to 766 Graduate Teacher candidates on Wednesday at the International Fair Ground in Hapania. He said TRBT had recommended the candidates on merit against 1,020 vacancies.
Explaining why all the posts could not be filled, Dr Saha said sufficient candidates were not available for 233 Scheduled Tribe vacancies, 23 ex-servicemen vacancies and 20 posts reserved for persons with disabilities. He added that 1,502 candidates hold TET-2 certificates and the government is examining the next course of action for them.
The Chief Minister also cited legal hurdles affecting the recruitment of Secondary Teacher Graduate (STGT) posts, stating that the process remained incomplete due to a case pending in the Supreme Court over reservation for 230 posts.
Meanwhile, to address the shortage of Graduate Teachers at the secondary level, the state government created 700 additional posts. According to Dr Saha, TRBT has recommended 686 candidates for these posts, and they will also receive appointment letters on Wednesday.
The announcement comes amid growing concern among TET-qualified aspirants over delays in recruitment and uncertainty surrounding their employment prospects.
