Agartala, 5th November 2026 : With the November 27 municipal elections approaching, the BJP has intensified its organisational preparations across Tripura. As part of its election strategy, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, along with state BJP president Abhishek Debroy, held an important meeting with the party’s newly selected candidates at the BJP state headquarters in Krishnanagar, Agartala, on Thursday.
The meeting was convened ahead of the filing of nomination papers for the municipal elections. Discussions focused on election preparedness, campaign strategies, organisational coordination and ways to reach out to voters.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Dr Saha said that all BJP candidates nominated for the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections had been called for discussions on how to approach the polls.
He said the party’s primary objective was to secure a decisive victory with public support by highlighting the development initiatives undertaken by the BJP-led government. The candidates would be asked to communicate the government’s achievements in development and welfare and explain its future plans to the people.
Taking a swipe at the opposition, Saha referred to the formation and subsequent disintegration of opposition alliances, alleging that opposition parties were now caught up in internal disagreements. He said the BJP would not waste time commenting on their affairs and would instead concentrate on its own campaign and public outreach.
Responding to a question about Pinaki Chakraborty, the BJP candidate from Ward No. 16, who is being projected as the party’s mayoral candidate, Saha said that political workers should follow the ideals of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also referred to the philosophy of Integral Humanism propounded by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, stating that following the ideological principles of the Bharatiya Janata Party was the appropriate approach for party workers.
BJP state president and MLA Abhishek Debroy, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, MLA Dipak Majumder and other party leaders were present at the meeting.
