Agartala, 31st July 2025: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha toay launched a scathing attack on the previous Left Front government, alleging that jobs were distributed from party offices based on political allegiance. In contrast, he said, the current government is ensuring employment through a transparent, merit-based process.
Speaking at a state-level training program for Medical Officers (Dental), Nursing Officers, and Community Health Officers (CHOs) at Pragna Bhavan, Dr. Saha also flagged off two blood collection and transportation vans for Kailashahar and Bishalgarh Hospitals.
“We don’t believe in divisive practices. Those who ruled the state for decades did exactly that,” Dr. Saha said. “The former Chief Minister accuses us of distributing jobs, but what is his basis? During their tenure, recruitment happened through party offices. We have had the courage to provide over 19,000 jobs transparently—no one has ever questioned our recruitment process. The 10,323 teachers’ case is a reminder of their legacy,” he added.
Dr. Saha accused the CPIM of spreading misinformation to mislead the public. “Earlier, government employees had to protest for Dearness Allowance (DA). Since I took office, not a single protest has taken place. I am working to reduce the DA gap with the Centre, despite financial limitations. Gone are the days when bribes were paid for transfers. Now, no one can claim jobs are for sale,” he said.
As Health Minister, Dr. Saha outlined several recent developments in the healthcare sector. He said the government is working on a formula to ramp up HIV screening and emphasized that nearly 90% of diseases are now treated within the state.
“Tripura has nine super-specialty services, and cancer treatment is available. But due to lack of awareness, people still go outside for treatment. We are strengthening district and sub-divisional hospitals, and have increased bed capacity at AGMC and GB Hospital with directions to add 100 more beds,” he noted.
Highlighting a major breakthrough, Dr. Saha informed that kidney transplants have already begun in Tripura. “Three successful transplants have been conducted so far. Earlier, patients had to travel outside the state and spend heavily. Now, we have signed an MoU with MOHAN Foundation for liver transplants and are also working to introduce bone marrow transplant services,” he said.
