Agartala, 24th April 2025: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to ensure accessible and quality healthcare in rural Tripura.
During a visit to the Gandhigram PHC, Dr. Saha—who also holds the Health portfolio—inspected the hospital’s infrastructure, interacted with patients and staff, and reviewed ongoing challenges.
“I visited the Gandhigram PHC and instructed the Health Secretary over the phone to address the identified gaps. There is a general perception that government hospitals lack cleanliness. I have instructed officials to maintain hygiene standards rigorously,” the Chief Minister told reporters.
He emphasized that both infrastructure development and human resource management are being prioritized. “I examined the staff pattern, duty rosters, and service delivery. While there are strengths, some issues need attention. I’ve already discussed them with the Health Department Secretary and senior officials. We had a meeting on this just yesterday,” he added.
Following the PHC visit, Dr. Saha toured the offices of the Tripura Urban Development Agency (TUDA), the Jal Board, and the Agartala Smart City Project Limited.
“This is my first visit to the Smart City office. I also visited the Jal Board office to gather updates on ongoing projects. I’ve gained a general understanding of the progress and challenges. Detailed discussions will follow to chart out necessary interventions,” the Chief Minister said.
