CM stresses proper maintenance of educational institutions

Agartala, 29th May 2024:   Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday said that the government will take necessary steps to resolve all issues at the Regional Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (RIPSAT).

“Government work should not only be seen as a formality. There must be accountability. Monitoring should be implemented as needed. It’s not enough to just show up at a government office, do the duty, and leave. Everyone must fulfill their responsibilities diligently,” he stated.

Dr. Saha said this during his visit to the Regional Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (RIPSAT) near GB Pant Hospital in the capital on Wednesday.

Dr. Saha, who also serves as the Health Minister, visited the pharmaceutical college and inspected the overall management and infrastructure of the institution.

He engaged with the officials in charge of managing the college to understand the various advantages and disadvantages. After the visit, he said, “I have come to inspect RIPSAT on the ground. There are several problems here, and we can clearly identify the deficiencies. Health department officials are with me. Maintenance and monitoring are crucial. It should be managed properly. Many problems are due to a lack of maintenance, so I have asked the Secretary of the Department of Health to clarify everything.” He also noted that the establishment is in a very beautiful location.

“B Pharma, D Pharma, M Pharma, and many other courses are available here. About 50 percent of the students come from North Eastern states to study here, and there are hostel arrangements. The faculty has some issues, and the government will take necessary steps to resolve these problems,” said the health minister.

He emphasized that it is not enough to build institutions; they must be properly maintained.The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of establishing Model Institutions. During the visit, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Health Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health, Director of Medical Education, and other officials.
