CM to participate meeting with Gadkari to review NH projects tomorrow

Agartala: November 10. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha tomorrow will participate in a review meeting which will be chaired by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari at Guwahati.

Sources from the secretariat said a review meeting on National Highways will be held in Guwahati on Friday under the chairmanship of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.

“In this meeting, there will be a detailed discussion on the progress of road development in various states funded by the central government. In the meeting, the details of the progress of the state’s national highway work during the current government’s tenure may be important in the discussion of Chief Minister Dr. Saha”, according to sources.

The source further said that the Chief Minister may take the details of the road development works in the state in the meeting. Among these, the progress of work on National Highway 108 (B) from Churaibari-Dharmanagar-Kailashahar-Kamalpur-Khowai to Agartala may come up.

At the same time information on the construction work of National Highway 44(A) from Manu to Shimlung in Mizoram will be held.

“The Chief Minister may raise before the Union Minister to start the construction of the road up to Khowai-Teliamura-Amarpur-Harina under the National Highway 208 as soon as possible. If this road is built, the import and export of goods with the entire Northeast India will be facilitated through Sabroom with Chittagong port. At the same time, the Chief Minister can also demand the reform of National Highway 8”, the source said.

He also said that the chief minister may put a demand for the construction of some new roads like Kamalpur-Santirbazar via Ambassa-Gandacherra and Amarpur road.

“Once constructed, it will connect with National Highways 108 and 208. It will connect from the north to the south of the state. If this road is constructed under Bharatmala 2.0, the people of the Janajati section of the state will be especially benefited and tourist travel to Chabimura and Narkelkunj will be greatly facilitated”, he said.

It may be noted that the work of Udaipur-Sabroom National Highway, Agartala-Udaipur National Highway, Maitri Bridge over Feni river at Sabroom, bypass road from Khairpur to Amtali in Agartala has already been completed.
