Agartala, 21st July 2023: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has urged the younger generation to embrace yoga in order to maintain a healthy body and mind. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the global recognition and appreciation that yoga has garnered. Dr. Saha made these remarks during the state-level International Yoga Day event held at Hapania International Fair Ground.
During his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the origins of International Yoga Day, which was declared on June 21st following Prime Minister Modi’s call for it during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on December 11th, 2014. He stressed that many individuals, particularly the younger generation, are unaware of the numerous benefits of yoga. Dr. Saha emphasized the significance of yoga as an integral part of India’s heritage and as a means to self-discovery.
“The new generation, consumed by mobile phones and laptops, often remains oblivious to the important benefits of yoga, which are crucial for maintaining a healthy body and mind. Yoga is deeply rooted in our Indian heritage and helps us understand ourselves and unlock our true potential. Despite our busy schedules, incorporating yoga into our daily routine is not difficult. It is essential for all of us to practice yoga every day, not just on International Yoga Day, for our own well-being. Regular yoga practice can help prevent various diseases such as diabetes and heart problems. We must strive to keep ourselves fit,” stated Dr. Saha.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister commended Prime Minister Modi for leading India in a new direction.
