Agartala, 27th July 2025: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday asserted that politics must not be dictated by violence or muscle power, emphasizing the need to foster a more peaceful and democratic political culture.
The Chief Minister made the remarks after visiting GBP Hospital in Agartala, where three BJP karyakartas are undergoing treatment following an alleged attack in Khowai district.“Today, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 124th edition of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, a group of BJP workers from Asarambhari Mandal were attacked by miscreants. I visited the injured at GBP Hospital and enquired about their condition. I have directed the medical team to provide them with the best possible care,” Dr. Saha said, adding that he strongly condemns the incident and has instructed police to take swift legal action.
Describing the incident as both “unfortunate” and “unacceptable,” the Chief Minister claimed that Tipra Motha supporters were behind the violence, which included vandalism of nine motorcycles and two additional vehicles.
“This kind of politics has no place in Tripura. People had gathered to listen to the Prime Minister, and instead they were attacked. We are committed to creating a political environment based on peace and dialogue, not intimidation,” he said.
Dr. Saha further stated that the people of Tripura have witnessed decades of political violence in the past, and his government is determined to ensure it does not return.“No one can be allowed to impose their political will through force. I’ve made it clear—we will not tolerate such acts. We want to build a future where politics is guided by democratic values and mutual respect,” he added.
