Agartala, 26th July 2025: Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman today emphasized on the need for collective effort from students, teachers, education workers and the government to ensure 100 percent implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Speaking at a one-day seminar organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shiksha Mahasangh at Matangini Pritilata Hall of Women’s College here, Barman emphasized, “The National Education Policy was envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure every child, up to the age of 18, gets access to quality education. To achieve this, a collaborative approach is essential.”
The seminar meant at reviewing the progress and effectiveness of the NEP, brought together educators and stakeholders from across the state. Barman noted that the policy introduces a “work-oriented approach at the secondary level and a knowledge-driven framework at the higher education level.”
He also highlighted key developments under the policy. “In the last 11 years, 390 universities have been established along with 23 IITs and 20 IIMs. Infrastructure has been improved across TPL ITs and NITs. To reduce regional disparity, 22 universities have been set up in various states,” he stated.
The minister commended the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shiksha Mahasangh for organizing the event, saying, “Such workshops are vital to evaluate how far we’ve come and how far we need to go in building an ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ through education.”
Professors, lecturers, and educationists from various colleges participated in the event, engaging in discussions on policy execution, curriculum reforms, and infrastructural development.
