Agartala, 25th October 2024 : Allegations of corruption have emerged at the Taruni Das Tilla Anganwadi Kendra in Ward No. 26 under 13-Pratapgarh assembly constituency, prompting concerns among local residents and officials. Complaints have been raised regarding the mid-day meal program, water supply, and the opening hours of the Anganwari Kendra.
Despite these issues, local councillor Shilpi Dewan Das has reportedly taken no action. Additionally, Sajal Das, the husband of Anganwadi worker Ratna Bhowmik has been accused of abusing his influence. “He is taking food meant for the children, using his power to do so,” alleged a local resident.
Ratna Bhowmik also faces accusations of corruption related to the center’s toilet facilities. When journalists approached Sajal Das for comments, he allegedly tried to snatch a mobile phone from one of them, showing his distress over the allegations.
Residents are demanding the transfer of both worker and helper from the Anganwadi Kendra to other locations. “The corruption and negligence at this center must be addressed,” said a representative of the local booth president. The community hopes for swift action to resolve these issues and restore trust in the Kendra’s operations.
