Agartala, 12th June 2025: The Pradesh Congress has formally submitted a letter to Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha demanding the upgradation of Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya in Kailashahar to a full-fledged university and the relocation of the Unakoti District Magistrate’s Office to the city center. The announcement was made by Congres MLA Birajit Sinha during a press conference held at the Kailashahar District Congress Bhavan today.
Addressing the media personnel here, Congress MLA Singha stated, “Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya has been the cornerstone of higher education in the region for decades. Given its existing infrastructure, academic quality, and student strength, it fully qualifies to be declared a university. This would be a landmark step for the educational upliftment of the entire Unakoti district.”
Singha also raised the issue of public inconvenience caused by the current location of the DM office. “It is situated on the outskirts, far from the main population center. This creates hardship for the common people. Relocating the office to the heart of Kailashahar would significantly improve public access to essential services,” he argued.
He urged the Chief Minister to act promptly and favorably on these demands. “We expect the state government to demonstrate goodwill by addressing these long-standing issues. If the government continues to delay, the Congress will be compelled to launch a mass agitation along with the people,” warned Singha.
District Congress President Md Badruzzaman and senior party leader Rudrendu Bhattacharya were also present during the press meet, lending support to the MLA’s call for infrastructural and administrative reforms in Kailashahar.
