Agartala, 25th August 2025: The Indian National Congress has escalated its nationwide protest campaign, rallying behind the slogan “Vote Chor, Modi Chor” to spotlight alleged electoral malpractice by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The movement, which accuses the BJP of manipulating the Election Commission to retain power, has gained traction across districts and subdivisions, including Tripura.
The Bishalgarh District Congress this afternoon organized a public demonstration at Sekerkote Bazaar as part of the broader initiative. The event saw participation from key state leaders, including Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, Vice President Ashok Debbarma, Pradesh Youth Congress President Nilkamal Saha, and District Congress President Gopinath Saha.
The protest march commenced from Sekerkote New Market, winding through the local tea garden and Darogabari, before culminating in a street-corner rally at Sekerkote School Chowmuhani. Addressing the gathering, Ashish Kumar Saha reiterated the party’s central allegation: that the BJP has repeatedly come to power by “stealing votes” and undermining democratic rights.
Saha cited Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent press conference, where Gandhi allegedly presented evidence of voter roll manipulation. “From minorities to tribal communities, farmers to Bengali voters — their rights are being stripped away,” Saha claimed. “The people are waking up to this reality, and the slogan ‘Vote Chor, Modi Chor’ now echoes across the nation.”
He further alleged that the Election Commission has been weaponized by the BJP to facilitate its electoral victories, calling the ongoing campaign a necessary step to expose the ruling party’s “true character” to the public.
The Bishalgarh protest is part of a series of coordinated events. Congress is set to hold similar demonstrations in Teliamura on Tuesday, followed by a central rally in Agartala on August 30, and a concluding event in Kailashahar on September 7.
Saha concluded by asserting that the BJP’s “mask has been removed,” and the Congress will continue its efforts to inform citizens and uphold democratic integrity.
