Congress marks 200th birth anniversary of Jyotirao Phule in Agartala

Agartala, 11th April 2026:   The Tripura Pradesh Congress today marked the 200th birth anniversary of eminent social reformer Jyotirao Phule with a commemorative event at the state party headquarters in Agartala.

The program began with floral tributes at Phule’s portrait, followed by a discussion session highlighting his life and contributions. Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha, representatives of the Mahila Congress, and members from various party wings and supporters attended the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion, Saha described Phule as a visionary thinker, reformer, and writer who fought tirelessly for equality in society. He emphasized Phule’s pioneering role in promoting women’s education, uplifting Dalits and marginalized communities, and challenging the rigid caste system. “His efforts opened the path for women’s education and spread the message of justice and equality across society,” Saha said.

He further noted that Phule’s ideals remain relevant today, inspiring younger generations to work toward eliminating discrimination and upholding human values.
