Agartala, 18th November 2025:   The Dhalai District Congress on Tuesday submitted a deputation to the District Magistrate demanding urgent action on three pressing issues: the rescue of kidnapped resident Surya Mohan Das, full compensation for traders affected in Shantir Bazar, and immediate steps to curb the atmosphere of fear allegedly created by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kamalpur subdivision following the Bihar election results.

Congress leaders handed over a charter of demands to the District Magistrate. Among those present were Pradesh Youth Congress president Neel Kamal Saha and other senior leaders. They urged the administration to ensure the safe recovery of Surya Mohan Das, who was abducted from Barocard in Gandachhara subdivision and has been missing for over 40 days. The Congress accused miscreants of being behind the kidnapping and pressed for swift intervention.

The delegation also highlighted the financial losses suffered by traders in Shantir Bazar during the Tipra Motha bandh. They criticized the government’s relief measures, which ranged between Rs 10,000 and Rs 25,000, calling them inadequate. “Such token assistance will not help traders recover. The government must provide full compensation so that businesses can stand on their feet again,” the leaders stated.

Additionally, the Congress alleged that the BJP had created an atmosphere of terror in Kamalpur subdivision after the Bihar poll results. They demanded immediate steps to restore peace and warned that failure to act would compel the party to launch a larger agitation.
