Consensus Workshop on National Mental Health Survey-2 Held at AGMC & GBP Hospital

Agartala, 19th September 2026 :  A Consensus Workshop on the National Mental Health Survey-2 (NMHS-2), themed “Better Mental Health for a Healthier India”, was held at the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) & GBP Hospital on Saturday.

The workshop, organised in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, was aimed at strengthening mental health infrastructure, research and policymaking in Tripura.

The programme was chaired by Shri Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary of the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Tripura.

As part of the workshop, a virtual connectivity session was held with Dr. N. Girish and expert faculty members from NIMHANS, Bengaluru. The experts provided technical guidelines and shared their expertise regarding the upcoming rollout of the survey.

The workshop was attended by senior administrative officials, medical experts and representatives from various sectors. Participants included the Principal of AGMC & GBP Hospital, Medical Superintendent and Deputy Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Joint Director of the Health & Family Welfare Department, Joint Director and Member Secretary of the National Health Mission (NHM), Tripura, Head of the Department of Microbiology at AGMC, as well as Chief Medical Officers and Sub-Divisional Medical Officers from districts across the state.

Discussions during the workshop focused on the operational roadmap for field implementation of NMHS-2, coordination among different agencies and specialised training strategies.

The participants also discussed measures to ensure smooth and coordinated implementation of the national survey across all districts of Tripura.
