Consumers’ respects government’s appeal; People applying for need of electricity to TSECL: Ratan Lal Nath

Agartala, June 22, 2023: Power minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday said that the responsible citizens of the state are coming forward to apply to the TSECL for their need of electricity in response to the request of the government.

Already 395 customers of Agartala city have applied for electricity demand to TSECL and out of this, the department has taken all measures in response to the application of 326 customers, he added.

While briefing the media persons here at Civil Secretariat on Thursday evening, Nath said that the demand for electricity is normal but the amount of that demand must be informed to the Power department. Correct information should be recorded in the office of the Power department and the office will take prompt action as per the requirements of the customers.

Throwing light on various programs of the Ministry of Power, Nath said that the work of laying underground cable in Agartala city has started since 2012. From 2012 to 2018, only 60 km of underground lines have been laid in Agartala. From 2018 to 2023, 184 km of underground lines have been laid.

The Power Minister said that in the future, with the financial support of Special Plan Assistance and Asian Development Bank, another 189 km of underground cable has been laid in Agartala. Moreover, a total of 46 km of underground cable works under Smart City including HT and LT have been taken up. He said that currently HT line has 821 km underground cable out of 18,091 km and LT line has 6,134 km aerial bunch and 19 km underground cable out of 31,802 km.

He said that Agartala city currently has a total of 197 km of HT and 854 km of LT lines. Out of this, 197 km HT and 38 km LT will be converted to underground cables in the next two years.

The Power minister also said that with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank, the work of laying underground cables is also going on in the entire state.

Nath said that despite the increase in the demand for electricity in the state, the electricity service in the state is normal. Department always strives to provide uninterrupted power service to customers.
