Continuing rehabilitation education workshop held at ICFAI University

Agartala, 18th March 2024 :   The Faculty of Special Education of the ICFAI University Tripura has organized three days continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) workshop approved by Rehabilitation council of India (RCI), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt of India on the topic “Realistic Practice in the Rehabilitation Field” from March 15 to 17 last.

The program was aimed for advancing accessibility to quality education and ensuring equal rights for children with special needs and to highlight the recent innovations in quality inclusive education, engagement, employment opportunities of the persons with special needs and special teachers.

At the beginning of the program, Dr. Subhasis Chaterjee, the Dean of Academic Affairs of the University delivered the welcome speech. The resource persons for the three days program was respectively Dr.Indranil Chaterjee, Senior Faculty and In-charge of Audiology and Vestibular Science Unit of the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities, Kolkata, Mandira Chakraborty, Assistant Professor in Special Education of Netaji Subhas Open University, West Bengal and Shri Ashok Chakraborty, former Chairman of the Zonal Coordination Committee (East) of Rehabilitation Council of India and President of SHELTER Foundation, West Bengal.

All the resource persons were shared their expertise and enriched the event with their valuable insights. It is to be noted here that the Faculty of Special Education of the ICFAI University Tripura is conducting CRE program on regular basis for upgrading the professional knowledge & Skills of the special education professionals for their intervention process of Divyangjan and also providing hands on skill & training to the parents of Divyangjan through Special Education Laboratory of the University.

About 300 numbers Special educators’ from eight numbers of different states and various sectors like government schools, private institutions, and clinics actively participated on this program.  The entire workshop was coordinated by Dr. Silali Banerjee, Principal of Faculty of Special Education of the University.
