Agartala, 19th August 2025:     The historic Manu Valley Tea Estate, a century-old symbol of Tripura’s tea heritage has become the target of a counterfeit racket allegedly distributing fake tea under its premium brand name, “Manu Valley Jewel Tips.”

Assistant Manager Prabir Dey raised serious concerns about the circulation of adulterated tea falsely packaged as Jewel Tips, stating that unscrupulous traders are exploiting the brand’s international reputation by replicating its packaging and flooding local markets with substandard products.

According to Dey, counterfeit packets have been spotted in several shops across Kailashahar and Dharmanagar. “This is not just consumer fraud, it’s a direct attack on our brand’s credibility,” he said. The estate has already lodged a formal complaint with local police to initiate legal action against the perpetrators.

To combat the issue and protect consumers, the estate has introduced high-security holograms on authentic Jewel Tips packaging. These holograms feature the word “Original” and the Lakshmi Tea emblem, which Dey urges buyers to verify before purchasing.

“Manu Valley Jewel Tips enjoys global recognition. This counterfeit network is trying to tarnish our reputation. We appeal to all customers, please check the hologram before buying. It’s the only way to avoid being deceived,” Dey emphasized.
