The counting for two Lok Sabha seats in Tripura started from this morning at 8AM amidst tight security.
Tripura has two seats including West Parliamentary Constituency from where former Tripura Chief Minister and lone Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb contested from BJP while Asish Kumar Saha who is President of Tripura Congress Committee contested from India Bloc.
While in another seat East (ST) Parliamentary Constituency, BJP fielded Kriti Singh Debbarma who is elder sister of former Tipra Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma and India bloc has fileded former MLA Rajendra Reang.
In both the seats elections were held on April 19 and 26.
Apart from this, counting of 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency also under way Where the by-election was held on April 19 after sitting BJP MLA Surajit Datta passed away.
Speaking about the counting process, an election official said that the counting process started this morning at 8 AM and so far no problem has arisen.
“In 20 locations the counting is underway. We have deployed over 2000 officials for counting along with three tier security systems starting from CAPF, Tripura State Rifles and Tripura Police. All the counting halls are covered with CCTV”, said an official.
