Agartala, 4th July 2024:  Student Federation of India (SFI) has intensified its movement in the state, demanding the cancellation of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the resignation of the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan.

As part of this, protests were organized across the country on Thursday, demanding the cancellation of the NTA, the resignation of the Union Education Minister, the cessation of school mergers in Tripura, and the cancellation of the Vidyajyoti scheme.

The procession started from the Chatra Yuva Bhawan and held a protest in front of the Shiksha Bhawan. After demonstrating there, they took to the streets again, protesting by burning effigies of the country’s education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, as well as the state education minister and chief minister, Dr. Manik Saha.

SFI State Secretary Sandipan Deb, who was present, stated that to destroy a country and a state, no powerful bomb is needed; by dismantling the education system, the country can be crippled for many yeas.

“The current government is attempting to destroy the country’s education system in various ways, including leaking NEET and NET exam questions. An unprecedented crisis is looming over the education system. Similarly, the present state government is also trying to destroy the education system by closing many schools,” he said.

He further added that the Vidyajyoti project endangers the lives of students.“There is an acute shortage of teachers even in state schools. When students protest on the streets, they are attacked by goons from the ruling party. Therefore, at this critical moment, SFI has initiated a movement, and the all-India strike that has been called is being strictly followed by SFI,” he said.

Meanwhile, a heated argument broke out between Yuva Morcha leader Vicky Prasad and SFI workers. Subsequently, Vicky Prasad was chased by the agitating workers. However, the situation was brought under control with the presence of police at the spot.
