Agartala, 27th September 2026 : The CPI(M) on Sunday evening organised a protest march in Agartala city, condemning an alleged attempt to attack former Tripura Chief Minister and senior party leader Manik Sarkar at Kalibazar in Bamutiya earlier in the day.
According to the party, Sarkar was travelling to attend a programme of the party’s youth organisation in Bamutiya when his convoy was allegedly stopped at Kalibazar and an attempt was made to attack him.
The protest march was led by CPI(M) leader Amal Chakraborty. Addressing the gathering, Chakraborty alleged that “jungle raj” was prevailing in Tripura and accused BJP supporters of attempting to carry out an attack on the former Chief Minister.
He condemned the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of those allegedly involved in the incident. Chakraborty also appealed to people to come forward against what he described as the present government’s alleged failure to maintain law and order.
The CPI(M) leader warned that if those responsible were not arrested, the party would launch a larger movement in the coming days.
The protest march passed through parts of Agartala as party workers raised slogans condemning the alleged attack and demanding action against those responsible.
