Agartala, 1st July 2025:   Members of the CPIM Jirania subdivision staged a sit-in protest today in front of the Director General of Police’s office demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for recent attacks on opposition supporters in the region.

Led by former minister Manik Dey and Ganamukti Parishad leader Radhacharan Debbarma, the protest accused the ruling BJP of orchestrating a climate of terror in Jirania. Protesters alleged that over the past several months, miscreants have repeatedly targeted opposition members vandalizing homes and shops without any visible police intervention.

Speaking to media personnel here, Manik Dey claimed, “Terrorism by BJP-backed miscreants has been ongoing for a long time in Jirania. Despite several incidents of vandalism, the police have failed to arrest a single perpetrator. This protest is a call for accountability.”

The demonstrators reiterated their demand for immediate police action and urged authorities to restore public trust by taking strict steps against those involved in the violence.
