Agartala, 20th March 2024: It is anticipated that Jitendra Chaudhary, a seasoned politician and CPIM MLA from Tripura, will soon assume the crucial role of Leader of the Opposition in the Tripura Assembly.
Speaker Biswabandhu Sen conferred this designation upon Chaudhary on Wednesday.
Insiders within the State Assembly have revealed that the Speaker has engaged in discussions with the CPIM leader regarding the position of Leader of the Opposition, indicating a probable appointment in the offing.
This position has remained vacant since Animesh Debbarma, a member of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), resigned from the role to take up a ministerial position in the BJP government helmed by Manik Saha on March 7.
