CPIM party office set ablaze at Mandai; Manik Sarkar blames BJP for weakness and corruption

Agartala, 2nd May 2025:  A CPIM party office in Mandai was set on fire by unknown miscreants, igniting tensions in the region. Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar visited the site on Thursday condemning the incident and accusing the ruling BJP of political weakness and declining public support.

“This act of arson is a sign of desperation. The ruling party has exposed its own vulnerability. Public interest has dwindled over the years, and fear prevails across the state,” Sarkar stated during his visit.

Sarkar was accompanied by former TTAADC Chief Executive Member Radhacharan Debbarma, who also surveyed the damage and expressed solidarity with party workers. Addressing supporters, Sarkar criticized the BJP government for failing to implement programs that benefit the people.

“The government is steeped in corruption. There is no money for public welfare, yet we see cases of child trafficking and families leaving the state in search of livelihoods,” he alleged.

He further highlighted deteriorating conditions in hospitals and schools, pointing to a shortage of doctors and nurses that has disrupted medical services. “Students are suffering due to a teacher crisis, and this year’s board results have worsened compared to previous years,” Sarkar noted.

The former Chief Minister claimed that laborers under the MGNREGA scheme are struggling due to delayed wages. “Earlier, they would work for five to seven days; now it stretches to eight to twelve. Even when they approach banks, BJP members interfere in their payments.”

Sarkar insisted that opportunities for public welfare exist in sectors like agriculture, urban and rural development, and fisheries, but corruption has impeded progress. “The BJP’s own leaders and activists are frustrated. Internal disputes within the party are escalating,” he added,

Addressing the increasing participation in CPIM events, Sarkar argued that BJP’s influence is waning. “Our party has faced six attacks in Mandai alone, but even those with ideological differences condemn such incidents and stand with us,” he said

He claimed the fire was premeditated but asserted that such acts would not weaken CPIM’s resolve. “This only fuels our determination. BJP’s voter base is shrinking. Their seats and votes have dropped since 2018,” he stated.

He also criticized Tipra Motha, alleging betrayal of the people’s trust. “Public support for them has declined as well.”

Sarkar urged party workers to uphold unity among tribal and non-tribal communities, warning that divisive tactics were being used to create conflict between Hindu and Muslim residents. “We must counter these conspiracies and protect communal harmony,” he affirmed.
