Agartala, February 01, 2023: CPIM state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury on Wednesday expressed their dissatisfaction over the reply of the Returning Officer, 53-Kailashahar Assembly Constituency in Unakoti district.

In a letter to the RO of the 53-Kailashahar assembly constituency, Chaudhury thanked the election officer for replying to his letter dated on January 31, 2023 over the demand of nomination paper rejection of Md Mabashar Ali as BJP candidate.

“In the reply of the RO, it has been justified acceptance of his nomination as BJP candidate only on the basis of the signatures in Form ‘A’ and Form ‘B’ of symbol allotment of Md. Ali as BJP candidates were duly put and there was no verbal or written objection from any other candidates during the process of scrutiny”, the letter reads.

Admitting that the RO is the sole authority to decide the validity of nomination, CPIM state secretary said that the excuses made by the election official in favour of his decision to accept him as BJP candidate are most unfortunate because while accepting nomination of a sitting MLA. “You did not clarify why you ignored the legal status of party membership of Md Ali which is statutory legal requirement of a candidate sponsored by any party that I mentioned in my yesterday’s letter”, he also added.
