CPIM using rapes as strategies to make come back in 2023: Kalyani

Agartala: October 29. MLA Kalyani Roy who is also Chief Whip of Tripura Legislative Assembly today claimed that to gain political attention and to make a comeback in power, CPIM is using the rape related incidents as their strategies.

Addressing a press conference, Roy alleged that CPIM leaders have forget that how the CPIM backed goons, workers of the party assaulted, raped minors, woman across the state. “No government wants crime against women. But CPIM is using the recently occurred rape incidents as their strategy to make a comeback in 2023 and to gain political attention”.

Roy has also shared a series of incidents related to crime against women and said in 2017 one minor girl was burnt alive in Mohanpur sub-division, and one tribal girl in Agartala was raped by one CPIM leader, however, police arrested him after the protest, Anwara Choudhury was killed and buried and later her body was dug out for post mortem. In Dhalai one tribal woman was raped, in Sonamura one woman was assaulted, in Kamalapur, Sushanti Debnath was pregnant and was assaulted and later lost her baby. The accused was a CPIM leader. In Dhanpur of Sepahijal district, one tribal woman was raped and killed by CPIM-backed goondas.

“But Police didn’t arrest the accused. Later police had to arrest them because of pressure from our protest but later due to poor investigation and charge sheet criminals used to get bail. But now police are arresting criminals within 24 hours”, she claimed.On the Kumarghat gang rape in Unakoti District, the MLA said among the six persons arrested by police, among them five are CPIM backed goondas and one Congress worker. She also claimed that there is no link of the involvement of the son of Minister Bhagaban Das.
