CPIM’s various wings holds mass deputation in Damcherra block, demands action on 17-point

Agartala, August 23, 2023: In response to pressing local demands and public concerns, a massive deputation was organized at Damcherra motor stand, drawing participants from various organizations including the Tripura Youth Federation (TYF), Tribal Students Union (TSU), and the Women’s Association.

The event, centered around a 17-point demand agenda, was presided over by prominent figures, including Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) Panisagar Sub-Division President Debchan Manik Halam, GMP Central Committee General Secretary Radhacharan Debbarma, Vice President Rajendra Reang, CPIM State Secretary Council member Pabitra Kar, Sub-Division Secretary Ajit Das, GMP Sub-Division Secretary Lalit Kumar Reang, and Barendra Reang, all of whom addressed the gathering.

The procession commenced from Damcherra motor stand, circling the entirety of Damcherra market. Running from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, the event focused on a range of crucial demands that the community seeks to address.

Among the issues highlighted were: The demand for improved infrastructure and labor conditions in hilly regions; Concerns regarding inadequate food supplies; A call for road repairs to address the deplorable state of local roads; Seeking resolution to issues related to housing recipients’ harassment; Addressing the dire state of roads in the Damcherra market area; Raising concerns about high healthcare costs and the need for better healthcare services; Advocating for reforms and maintenance of government offices; Demanding government assistance for jhum (shifting cultivation) farmers; and Seeking the establishment of a DCM (District Magistrate and Collector) office in Damcherra for improved governance.

The mass deputation underscores the urgency of these issues within the Damcherra community. It represents a united effort by various organizations to bring attention to these concerns and prompt action from local authorities. The community awaits a response from relevant government bodies regarding the fulfillment of their demands.
