Agartala, 22nd September 2026 : The Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) is scheduled to hold the final Annual General Meeting (AGM) of its present committee on September 30. Ahead of the meeting, a Tripura-based cricket organiser has approached the BCCI Ethics Officer seeking clarification on certain issues concerning the selection and eligibility of representatives of TCA’s general body.
According to information available, cricket organiser Prashanta Chakraborty has written to the BCCI Ethics Officer raising several questions regarding the eligibility of representatives who are expected to attend the upcoming AGM.
The first issue concerns Tapan Lodh, who is currently serving as the president and representative of TCA-affiliated Shatadal Sangha. Chakraborty has sought clarification on whether Lodh can participate in the TCA AGM scheduled for September 30, 2026, as the representative of Shatadal Sangha.
According to the representation, Lodh crossed the age of 70 on July 28, 2025, and is currently 72 years old. Chakraborty has therefore sought clarification on whether a person who has crossed the stipulated age limit can continue to represent an affiliated unit at the TCA AGM.
The second issue concerns Chiranjeev De, who has been inducted into the TCA Apex Council as the representative under the cricketers’ quota, reportedly in accordance with directions concerning the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA). The TCA had issued an official announcement regarding his inclusion on August 24.
Chakraborty has sought clarification on whether Chiranjeev De can subsequently be elected or nominated as the representative of any club or other TCA-affiliated unit and participate in the AGM as a General Body member.
The representation raises the question of whether an individual already nominated to the TCA Apex Council as the ICA representative can simultaneously represent another affiliated unit in the TCA General Body.
The cricket organiser has sought clear guidance from the BCCI Ethics Officer on both matters ahead of the September 30 AGM, particularly regarding the eligibility and manner of representation of affiliated units in the TCA General Body.
