Agartala, 13th January 2026: In a move aimed at promoting youth engagement and sports development in tribal regions, the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) has appointed celebrated state cricketer Manishankar Murashing as its Brand Ambassador.

The decision follows an appeal by royal scion and Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, who urged the Council to recognize Murashing’s sporting achievements and involve him in advancing cricket across the TTAADC areas. Debbarman, in a social media post, highlighted Murashing’s dedication and performances, stating that regardless of opportunities like the Indian Premier League (IPL), the cricketer has already brought immense pride to Tripura.

An official order issued by the TTAADC stated that the appointment has been made in the interest of strengthening youth-focused initiatives of the Autonomous District Council. As a prominent sportsperson from the state, Murashing is expected to inspire young athletes and help foster a vibrant sporting culture in the tribal belts.

The appointment will be valid for a period of three years from the date of joining, unless terminated earlier in accordance with the prescribed rules and conditions. During his tenure, Murashing will receive a consolidated remuneration of ₹10 lakh per annum.

As Brand Ambassador, Murashing will undertake responsibilities assigned by the Council from time to time, in line with the regulations and guidelines of the TTAADC.

The Council expressed hope that his association will play a significant role in identifying and nurturing young sporting talent while raising the overall standard of sports in the region.
