Crops destroyed, farmers demand urgent action

Date:

 BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 18th January 2026:     A wave of crop destruction in the Bankumari area has sparked fear and outrage among local farmers, who allege that miscreants are deliberately targeting their fields under the cover of darkness. The repeated incidents have left cultivators facing severe financial distress.

Farmers Ranjan Debnath and Haridhan Debnath reported that over the past several days, their bottle gourd, cabbage, and cucumber plantations have been repeatedly vandalized. “Years of hard work and investment are being wiped out overnight. If this continues, survival itself will become impossible, and families may face starvation,” they said.

Local cultivators claim that such acts of crop destruction are becoming alarmingly common across the state, yet authorities have failed to take effective measures despite repeated complaints.

In response, farmers have appealed directly to the state’s Agriculture Minister and Chief Minister, urging immediate administrative intervention. They warned that unless strict action is taken against those responsible, they may be compelled to resort to extreme measures.
