Agartala: February 24. Like other districts, the senior officials of the state including Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) today also visited Khowai district to inspect the law and order situation and to check the preparedness of completing the counting peacefully.
Chief Secretary JK Sinha, DGP Amitabha Ranjan, Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte, ADG Sourav Tripathi visited Khowai district today to inspect the preparations for the counting of votes for the Tripura Assembly elections.
Chief Secretary, DGP, Chief Electoral Officer and ADG held a meeting with the officials of the District Administration and Police Administration in order to complete the counting of votes properly.
Khowai District Magistrate DK Chakma, Superintendent of Police Ratiranjan Debnath, Khowai Sub-Divisional Magistrate Bijay Sinha, Teliamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate Abhijit Chakraborty and others were present in the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the preparations for the enumeration. The meeting laid emphasis on maintaining a peaceful atmosphere throughout the district.
Earlier, the officials have visited North, Sepahijala, Gomati and South district.
Later, an exercise was held this afternoon in the old town hall of Khowai with counting supervisors, counting assistants and micro observers engaged in the counting of votes for the Tripura Assembly elections.
Khowai District Election Officer and District Magistrate DK Chakma, Returning Officer of 24-Ramchandraghat (ST), 25-Khowai and 26-Asharambari (ST) constituencies respectively trained the officials on how to complete the counting of votes as per the guidelines of Election Commission of India in the exercise. They trained the counting staff. Besides, DC Shantanu Dutta of Khowai sub-divisional office trained the counting staff through PowerPoint presentation. 45 counting supervisors, 45 counting assistants and 45 micro observers participated.
