CT Scan services suspended for 8 days at Gomati District Hospital

Date:

Agartala, 11th  May 2026:  Health services at Gomati District Hospital have come under sharp criticism, with patients and their families alleging a near collapse of essential facilities. The most pressing concern is the suspension of the CT scan department, which has remained closed for the past eight days.

Hospital sources confirmed that the service has been non-functional since May 2. The disruption has caused severe hardship for patients, particularly accident victims and critically ill individuals, as doctors are being forced to refer them to other hospitals.

The CT scan unit is managed by a private agency named Sanjeevani. Dissatisfaction with its services has been longstanding, with patients alleging frequent interruptions due to power failures or mechanical faults. Locals complain that such disruptions have become routine, turning patient suffering into a daily ordeal.

Despite the gravity of the situation, hospital authorities have not provided a clear explanation for the closure. Allegations have also surfaced that, despite the proximity of the Chief Health Officer’s office and the hospital superintendent’s office, there has been no effective supervision or swift intervention.

Public anger is mounting, with residents questioning why the administration has failed to act decisively even as a vital emergency service remains unavailable for more than a week. The crisis has sparked wider debate about mismanagement in the healthcare system, with demands for immediate restoration of services and accountability from hospital authorities.
