Agartala, June 28, 2023: Damcherra police station staff arrested a man with five grams of heroin and cash of Rs 9,380 on Tuesday last. The arrestee is identified as Basudev Sinha of Narendra Nagar at Damcherra.
The Damcherra police station has been achieving one success after another under the guidance of officer in-charge Raju Bhowmik.
According to sources, the Damcherra police received an information regarding a brand new Max pickup truck which was entering Tripura with illegal goods from Assam. Based on the tip-off, the police made arrangements to catch Basudev red-handed and stopped the vehicle at 3:30 pm.
Along with five grams of heroin and cash of Rs 9,380, a mobile phone was also recovered from his possession. A case has been registered against him under NDPS section with Damcherra police station and investigation has started.
It is expected that there is a possibility that people from outside the state who are smuggling drugs into the state through Panisagar over the area of Damcherra police station will come to light.
