Agartala, 18th November 2025 :   A daring burglary just 200 meters from the local police station has triggered shock and concern across Kailashahar town. Late last night, a gang of thieves broke open a window grill and entered a residence on Swaroopananda Sarani, escaping with nearly five ‘Bhoris’ of gold ornaments and Rs 20,000 in cash.

The homeowner Dipal Singh Roy said he had returned late from Agartala with his wife after medical treatment, only to find the house ransacked. “The almirah was broken, the window grill removed, and everything turned upside down,” he told reporters. Roy lodged a written complaint at the police station immediately after the incident.

Upon receiving the report, a mobile patrol unit rushed to the spot and inspected the house. Police officials described the burglary as “highly planned,” suggesting the perpetrators were familiar with the area’s geography, which enabled them to carry out the crime so close to the station.

The incident has spread fear among residents, who questioned the effectiveness of local security arrangements. Community members voiced strong criticism, noting that such a crime near the police station undermines public confidence. Locals have demanded swift arrests and a more vigorous investigation to restore a sense of safety in the neighborhood.
