Agartala, 1st March 2026: Questions are being raised about law and order after a series of daring thefts struck three homes in the Rabindra Pally area of Udaipur subdivision on Saturday night. The incidents, occurring in a single night, have created widespread alarm in the locality.
According to reports, a gang of thieves targeted the three houses in a planned operation. Among them, Samir Dhar’s house suffered the greatest loss. Dhar had been staying at his daughter’s residence in Agartala for about eight days, leaving his own home vacant. Taking advantage of the empty house, the thieves broke the lock, entered the home, and stole approximately ₹25,000 in cash along with around 2 tolas of gold jewellery.
The gang also struck Chinu Bala Das’s home but found no valuables. They reportedly ransacked the house, leaving furniture and household items scattered. Another victim, Parmita Guha, returned to find that thieves had stolen several batteries from her unoccupied home.
Neighbors discovered the thefts on Sunday morning and informed the affected families, who then lodged a complaint with Radhakishore Police Station. Police have begun a preliminary investigation at the scene. Residents have demanded regular police patrols and stronger night-time security in the area.
Authorities confirmed that a formal case has been registered based on written complaints and assured that efforts are underway to identify and arrest the culprits promptly.
