Agartala, May 17, 2023: The death anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, the architect of modern Tripura was observed across the state on Wednesday. The royal scion passed away on May 17, 1947.
On Wednesday morning, Maharaja Bir Bikram Welfare society paid floral tribute at the altar built at Battala Royal Crematorium here. AMC Mayor Dipak Majumdar, ADC EM- Sohail Debbarma, Corporator Nibah Das, Battala Bazar Samiti President, Secretary and members of the society were present. All present paid tribute to Maharaja Bir Vikram Kishore Manikye Bahadur on his 76th death anniversary.
During his tenure as Maharaja of Tripura, he modernised the entire state and people started reaping benefits now. After the formation of the BJP government in 2018, efforts are being made to preserve the royal memory and present it to future generations. The international airport is named after him. A statue has been installed in place of the main mile plaque in Agartala city.
Mayor Dipak Majumdar said that the government and corporation have taken such efforts to highlight the history for the formation of the state. He said that Municipal Corporation will do the work of renovating this Raj crematorium and building roads.
