Agartala, 19th July 2024:   During an examination at Nayapara Higher Secondary English Medium School, a ceiling fan fell injuring two Class IV students on Friday. Arnab Chandra (10) suffered a head injury while Agrajit Nath (10) sustained a leg injury. Arnab’s father Akhil Chandra, resides in Ward No. 7 of North Hurua and Agrajit’s father Debjit Nath lives in the Dighal Bagh Netaji Chowmuni area.

The incident took place while the students appeared for their exams causing immediate concern. Parents promptly contacted the Dharmanagar fire brigade, who assisted in transporting the injured children to the district hospital in Dharmanagar. Both students are currently receiving medical treatment.

Anita Nath, the in-charge headmaster of the school, was informed about the accident. However, parents have expressed dissatisfaction with the school’s response, particularly the lack of immediate action or hospital visits by the authorities to check on the students’ conditions.

The lack of response from the school authorities has left parents and local residents in shock. One parent stated, “We expected the school to act swiftly and show concern for the injured students. Their silence and inaction are deeply disappointing.”

The department has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident, leaving the community anxious and questioning the school’s commitment to student safety.
