Agartala, 28th October 2024:   A devastating fire broke out last night in the area adjacent to the Kanchanpur auto rickshaw stand, reducing a factory and several houses to ashes. The incident took place around 11:30 PM on Sunday, caused significant excitement and panic among local residents.

Three fire engines were dispatched to the scene to bring the blaze under control. According to locals, the fire is believed to have started from a short circuit in a candle factory named Disha Kendra. The fire quickly spread, causing an estimated loss of crores of rupees.

“A few families have become destitute in the blink of an eye,” said a local resident. The commercial establishment, along with several houses, was completely burnt down. Upon receiving the information, the Kanchanpur fire department immediately sent two fire engines to the spot. However, due to engine problems and a lack of water, the fire brigade initially struggled to contain the fire.

As the flames spread from one house to another, local residents attempted to control the fire by connecting fire hoses to pond water. Eventually, a fire engine from Panisagar arrived and managed to bring the fire under control, but not before substantial damage had been done.

“The fire started from a short circuit in the candle factory, and later a cylinder exploded, intensifying the blaze,” explained another local. The fire caused a loss of around crores of rupees, with the candle factory being completely destroyed.

The incident has left the affected families in a state of shock and despair, highlighting the urgent need for improved fire safety measures in the area.
