Agartala, 18th November 2025 : A massive fire broke out at the residence of Krishna Chandra Das in Chankap village under Kochuchhara police station, Kamalpur subdivision reducing three rooms of his house to ashes.
Preliminary investigations suggest the blaze was triggered by an electrical short circuit. At the time of the incident, Das was working in his paddy field with his son. On receiving news of the fire, he rushed back home but was unable to save any part of the property.
Local residents immediately alerted the Salema Fire Service. However, before firefighters could arrive, the flames had already engulfed and destroyed all three rooms. Fire service personnel later managed to bring the blaze under control and successfully prevented it from spreading to nearby houses.
Das estimated the loss to be over Rs 25 lakh. The incident has sparked widespread concern and unrest in the locality.
