Agartala, 21st July 2025: The onset of the auspicious Shravan month was marked with fervent devotion today as thousands of worshippers gathered at temples across the city to offer milk and water on the Shiva Linga, seeking blessings for peace and prosperity.
According to Hindu scriptures, Shravan is considered to be the birth month of Lord Shiva, and Mondays during this period hold special significance. Devotees believe that rituals performed on these days especially the offering of sacred items such as honey, milk, bel leaves, dhatura flowers, akanda garlands, and water help please Mahadev and invite divine grace into their homes.
Temple premises witnessed overflowing crowds from the early hours of the day, with worshippers queuing patiently to pour offerings on the deity. Many observed fasts and dedicated their prayers to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, upholding ancient traditions meant to bring harmony and protection to the family.
“The atmosphere on the first Shravan Monday is truly electric with devotion. Every element of the offering is symbolic and deeply rooted in our faith,” said one temple priest.
This annual observance continues through the month, culminating in a sacred rhythm of ritual and reverence across the country.
