Agartala, 19th January 2026 : Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag visited Belonia today as part of a statewide initiative to raise awareness about cybercrime.
Upon his arrival at the Belonia Dak Bungalow, DGP was welcomed by South Tripura Superintendent of Police Maurya Krishna C. and other senior police officials. Police personnel greeted him with formal honors before he proceeded to attend the awareness program.
The event titled Digital Yuddh (Digital War) was organized by the South District Police at the Old Town Hall in Belonia. The program began with a traditional felicitation, where the DGP and other dignitaries were presented with floral bouquets and ceremonial scarves. The inauguration was marked by lighting of the lamp by the DGP alongside district officials including the District Magistrate, District Education Officer, and SP South.
Addressing police officers, students, and members of the public, DGP emphasized the importance of vigilance in the digital age. He urged citizens not to share one-time passwords (OTPs), to keep passwords confidential, and to remain cautious of fraudulent emails, messages, and phone calls. He advised that in case of any cyber fraud, victims should immediately contact the national helpline number 1930.
The session also featured detailed presentations on cybercrime through LED screen displays, followed by interactive discussions aimed at educating participants about online safety.
The program was attended by officers-in-charge from various police stations, sub-divisional officers and students from local schools, reflecting the administration’s commitment to spreading awareness across all sections of society.
