Dhalai court sentences convict for 10 yrs of RI

Agartala, December 03, 2022: Learned Additional District & Sessions Judge of Dhalai district in Kamalpur on December 01 last convicted and sentenced an accused person namely Akshya Sing Bhumij(24) of Kaimaicherra under Kamalpur Police Station in connection with Case No. ST(POCSO) 04/2019, arising out of Kamalpur police station case number 09/2019, dated January 18, 2019, under sections 363, 427, 323, 376 of IPC & 6 of POCSO Act, 2012 to suffer 10 years of Rigorous Imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs 5000 only for the commission of offence punishable under section 6 of POCSO Act, 2012 in default of fine to suffer Simple Imprisonment for 03(three) months.

In addition, to suffer Simple Imprisonment of 05(five) years with a fine of Rs 5000 only for the offence punishable under section 363 of IPC. In default of fine to suffer Simple Imprisonment for 02 months. In addition, to suffer Simple Imprisonment of 04 years for the offence punishable U/S-354(B) of IPC with a fine of Rs 3000 only and in default of fine to suffer Simple Imprisonment for 02 months and a fine of Rs 1000 only for the offence punishable under section 323 of IPC, in default of fine to suffer Simple Imprisonment for 01 month.

In this case, the accused person committed the offence of aggravated penetrative sexual assault upon the minor victim.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Investigating Officer SI Subir Saha of Kamalpur Police Station (now posted in Belonia police station) thoroughly investigated the case and submitted charge sheet which subsequently ended in conviction.
