Agartala, 16th December 2025: Dharmanagar is witnessing heightened unrest after a tragic incident led to the death of a young delivery worker, triggering strong public reaction. Prasenjit Sarkar, a resident of the Kameshwar locality and an employee of a private delivery firm, died under distressing circumstances, leaving the community shaken.
Sources allege that Prasenjit was brutally attacked in public following an altercation with a group of youths. A video of the assault subsequently circulated widely on social media, causing him deep embarrassment and emotional suffering. Overwhelmed by the mental anguish, he allegedly ended his life by hanging.
Outraged by the incident, members of the local youth community staged protests demanding justice and strict punishment for those involved. Carrying placards calling for justice, protesters blocked roads near the Old Motor Stand in Dharmanagar before marching towards the Superintendent of Police’s office.
The demonstrators called for the immediate arrest of all accused persons and issued a stern warning of intensified protests if action is not taken within the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, tension remains high in and around Dharmanagar, with residents anxiously awaiting decisive action from the authorities.
