Agartala, 27th November 2025: The Animal Resources Development (ARD) Department and Fisheries Department today distributed support materials to beneficiaries of various government schemes in Fatikroy under Unakoti district. The SC Welfare Department also provided sports equipment to Scheduled Caste hostels as part of the programme.
Held at Nazrul Kalakshetra, the event was inaugurated by Minister Sudhangshu Das, who reiterated the state government’s focus on making economically weaker farming families self-reliant. He said that while Tripura has made significant progress in meat production, egg and milk output continue to lag. Initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Animal Resources Development Yojana which supplies poultry chicks and ducklings to beneficiaries are being scaled up to address these gaps, he added.
To boost fish production and meet local demand, the Fisheries Department distributed nets and ice boxes to fish farmers, while financial assistance cheques were also handed over. Minister Das said these measures are aimed at improving livelihood opportunities and strengthening the economic condition of marginal and backward communities.
Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das, Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Sumati Das, ARD & Fisheries Secretary Deepa D. Nair, Unakoti District Magistrate Dr. Tamal Majumder and other officials were present at the programme. Beneficiaries expressed satisfaction over the support received.
