DM Imposes vehicle movement restriction in city for I-Day celebration

Agartala, 13th August 2025:  The West Tripura District Magistrate has announced traffic restrictions and no-parking zones in certain parts of Agartala on August 15 for the smooth conduct of the 79th Independence Day celebrations at Assam Rifles Maidan.

The restrictions will remain in force from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. During this period, the movement of all types of private vehicles, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, e-rickshaws, rickshaws and wheelbarrows will be prohibited, except for vehicles carrying school students.

The restricted areas include the stretch from Gurkhabasti to the south, Buddha Mandir to the north, and Malancha Niwas to Circuit House.

Vehicles carrying patients to GB Hospital will be allowed to enter through Abhaynagar Bazar and Kumaritilla. In addition, no-parking zones have been declared on both sides of the road from the main gate of the old Raj Bhavan to Buddha Temple, both sides of the road from Buddha Temple to the old MLA Hostel on Cantonment Road, and the road from Buddha Temple to Abhaynagar Post Office.

The District Magistrate has also requested air passengers to use the Durga Chaumuhani–Barajala route via Panchavati Kali Mandir to avoid congestion during the celebrations.
