Agartala, 18th March 2024 : In a disturbing incident took place near Bishalgarh SDPO office, a doctor, identified as Sanghamitra Das, has been arrested following an altercation with law enforcement officials. The incident, which took place on Sunday night, involved alleged misbehavior by Dr. Das towards working police personnel from Bishalgarh Police Station.
Dr. Das, employed at Agartala GB Hospital, reportedly engaged in unbecoming conduct while under the influence of alcohol, causing distress to officers conducting routine vehicle checks adjacent to the Bishalgarh SDPO office. According to reports, when approached by police personnel, Dr. Das not only refused to comply but also resorted to threatening behavior, invoking the influence of his father.
The altercation escalated when Dr. Das allegedly attempted to leverage his father’s political stature to evade consequences. Despite his efforts, Bishalgarh Police Station swiftly intervened, leading to the arrest of Dr. Das and his companions.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Bishalgarh Police Station confirmed that a medical examination was conducted, and a case has been registered against Dr. Das. ASI further disclosed that Dr. Das had attempted to intimidate authorities by citing his father’s political connections, warning of dire consequences.
The incident has sparked outrage among law enforcement officials, prompting calls for stringent legal action against individuals displaying such misconduct, including pedestrians and motorists. The involvement of a medical professional in such behavior has heightened concerns, emphasizing the need for accountability and adherence to ethical standards within the community.
