Drug Peddler Arrested in Sonamura, Heroin and Cash Seized

Agartala, 10th September 2025: Sonamura police on Wednesday afternoon arrested a drug peddler and seized 12.96 grams of heroin from his residence, officials said.

During the raid, police recovered the contraband hidden inside a soap case. They also seized his passport, mobile phone, Rs 11,260 in cash suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking, and a motorcycle (registration number TR-08E-5019) allegedly used for transporting narcotics.

The accused, identified as Kabir Hossain Sarkar (38), a resident of Rangamati, Ward No. 5 under Sonamura Police Station in Sepahijala district, reportedly confessed during preliminary interrogation that he had been selling heroin to local youths. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act, and police said more arrests may follow based on the investigation. Sarkar will be produced before the court with a prayer for police remand, officials confirmed.
